Job Title: Insurance Producer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Grade: Comission
Report to: Vice President Insurance Services
Sales oriented position requiring advanced communication skills, a thorough knowledge of insurance products available through the agency. Capable of pursuing and closing sales of new and existing accounts and retaining assigned book of business.
Prospect for new business from existing clients, referrals and identified target groups.
Prequalifies all new clients according to standards and principals of the agency regarding business selection.
Survey prospects to determine insurance needs, inspecting current insurance policies, risk management plans, property, products and records.
Inform and educate clients about coverage, exclusions and exposures, documenting all conversations in the agency management system.
Develop and deliver formal proposals of insurance according to agency standards.
Collect detailed risk and underwriting information including survey data and loss history as required by carriers and agency staff.
Work with account manager or marketer to complete insurance carrier submissions and selection of potential markets.
Consistently has insured’s sign applications and collects deposits from all applicants
Documents all conversations with clients in the agency management system and hand off all service requests to account manager.
Participate in renewals, by reviewing expiration listing with account manager to determine appropriate action and collection of information to prepare renewal submissions.
Review endorsements, claims, audits, and cancellations on producer accounts and notifies Account Manager of action desired
Explains audit procedures to clients and reviews interim reports for accuracy and coverages
Responsible for Late Audit amounts for his/her accounts; Must pursue or return to carrier for agency credit within allotted time permitted by carrier contract.
Assists Account Manager and others with contacting clients as requested
Responsible for coverage adequacy of all written accounts
Responsible for educating Clients concerning Agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures
Responsible for production goal as assigned by Agency and for fulfilling it with business that meets standards of the Agency and its carriers
Retains renewal accounts by maintaining contact with appropriate Clients and filling coverage needs
Provides open communication among the agency personal, regional and market presidents.
Work with Director of Insurance and regional and market presidents to develop sales and performance goals.
Work with all central and agency personnel to ensure effective, efficient operation of the agency.
To be maintain active involvement and to promote agency and industry in the community in which they live and work.
Actively participate in educational opportunities and keep informed of industry developments and trends.
Accepts and handles all duties and projects as may be assigned by Agency management
The computer skills necessary to perform this job successfully are an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access; familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint.
Prefer to have someone with an associate degree in finance, accounting, or business or minimum of three years experience in insurance agency sales position.
Basic knowledge of Excel and Word. Exceptional customer sales skills as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and assist others as called for. Must be a self starter, motivated and be able to work independently.
Skills not required but would be a plus: The ability to lead instruction in a classroom setting.
The performance measures for this job shall be those established in the incumbent’s current Performance Planning and Appraisal Program. The Primary Accountabilities in this job description together with the incumbent’s established performance measures serve as the vocational objectives. If you are just entering this job, you and your supervisor will meet within the first two weeks of your employment to establish your performance measures for the current year.

The hardware and software required to do this job are as follows:
- Personal Computer; and
- Copy Machine, Facsimile Machine, Printer and other basic office equipment; and
- Microsoft Office Products (including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint)
- Core Insurance System.
The exertion and physical requirements of this job are as follows:
- Moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds;
- Sitting at least half of the work day;
- Standing as much as 40 percent of the work day;
- Walking approximately 10 percent of the work day;
- Placing objects on and removing objects from shelves;
- Dexterity and Coordination;
- Oral and Written (including Typing) Communication; and
- Listening and Hearing.
