Job Title: Mortgage Loan Assistant
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Job Grade: Level 1 (4, 5); Level 2 (6); Level 3 (7); Level 4 (8)
Report to: Mortgage Banking Manager
Under the direction of the Mortgage Banking Manager, perform all duties necessary to process and close residential real estate loans. Ensure the accuracy of processed loan documents prior to closing and investor submission.
Ensure all loan files have correct, compliant and signed loan documentation based on loan type.
Ensure all loan files are organized and complete based on loan program/type.
Have a thorough working knowledge of all loan types, including research of guidelines for Fannie Mae and Secondary Markets Franklin, MPF, Suntrust, HUD/FHA, VA, SDHDA, RD, Conventional, New-Construction and second/home equity loans.
Assist in full range of duties pertaining to the loan process. Working file from application to completing underwriting checklist, closing, shipping and post closing auditing function, including the input of new loans and file maintenance of loans.
Provide prompt and courteous service to customers, realtors and all third party affiliates.
Provide assistance to co-workers with customer inquiries or problems. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.
Provide input regarding goals for the real estate loan department.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and on-line training.
Attainment of One - Two (1-2) years' mortgage loan experience in processing/closing, and procedures and policies.
Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of an Associate degree in Finance. In addition, specific technical school or AIB courses in lending, consumer credit, real estate lending and/or licensing banking operations or equivalent experience is required.
Successful accomplishment of specified performance objectives as outlined for the incumbent by the Mortgage Banking Manager.
Excellent verbal communication skills as evidenced by the ability to interact both in-person and over the telephone and/or email with customers and co-workers. Demonstrated ability to use discretion, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with customers and co-workers, and a positive professional appearance at all times.
Good math/analytical skills.
The performance measures for this job shall be those established in the incumbent’s current Performance Planning and Appraisal Program. The Primary Accountabilities in this job description together with the incumbent’s established performance measures serve as the vocational objectives. If you are just entering this job, you and your supervisor will meet within the first two weeks of your employment to establish your performance measures for the current year.
