Dacotah Bank Donates to Local 4-H Building Project

Sisseton, S.D.—Dacotah Bank recently announced a substantial donation to the new Roberts County 4-H Community Center in Sisseton. Kevin Wegehaupt, the bank’s Sisseton market president, joined Amy Currence, treasurer of the campaign, in announcing the company’s $10,000 donation.

The new building will be used primarily by Roberts County 4-H. The youth organization’s archery program uses the present building twice a week during the winter. The number of program participants has grown over the years forcing expansion to two nights a week. The annual 4-H Achievement Days, Project Workshop Days, Award Banquet, and countless other events will be held at the building throughout the year. Local clubs will also use the building for meetings.

The existing building is often rented for community functions such as voter polling, funerals, birthday and anniversary parties, and family reunions. On average, the existing building is used at least twice per week the entire year.

The main part of the proposed building will measure 60 by 150 feet with an additional 2,000 square feet for a full-service kitchen and serving window, handicap accessible restrooms, and office space. Plans call for a community meeting room available for rent for smaller community functions.

To date, the campaign members have raised over $250,000 of the $400,000 goal. Construction is slated for spring of 2018. Donors will be recognized on a permanent display within the facility.
